Terms of Service

1.1 Platform Overview

RebuttalBase is a web-based workspace for building, researching, and strengthening arguments. The core Service includes:

• Interactive argument canvas for visualizing claims, premises, evidence, counter-arguments, and rebuttals
• Source library for collecting, organizing, and tracking research materials
• Rich-text note-taking linked to specific arguments and sources
• Argument templates for structured frameworks (Toulmin, IRAC, Rogerian, etc.)
• Relevance and confidence scoring for sources and argument nodes
• Community forum for discussion, critique, and source sharing
• Blog with articles on argumentation and critical thinking

1.2 Optional AI-Enhanced Features

The Service also offers optional AI-enhanced features available on paid plans. These features use third-party language models (Anthropic Claude) to assist with argument analysis, research, and source enrichment. AI outputs are suggestions and supplementary tools — not legal, academic, or professional advice. The core workspace is fully functional without AI features. You are responsible for verifying any AI-generated analysis.

2.1 Account Creation

You must create an account using Google OAuth to access the Service. You must be at least 13 years old to use our Service.

2.2 Account Security

You are responsible for all activities under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use. Account sharing is prohibited.

3.1 Plans

• Free: 10 projects with full access to the argument canvas, source library, notes, templates, and community
• Pro: Unlimited projects plus optional AI-enhanced features (argument decomposition, node analysis, research assistant, source enrichment)
• Enterprise: Custom pricing — contact us for team collaboration, shared workspaces, and advanced features

3.2 Payment Terms

• Payments are processed securely by Stripe
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled
• Prices are in USD
• We reserve the right to modify pricing with 30 days notice

3.3 Cancellation and Refunds

• Cancel anytime from Settings — cancellation takes effect at end of billing period
• You retain access to Pro features until the period ends
• Refund requests handled on a case-by-case basis — contact brenfurtado@gmail.com

4.1 Permitted Use

• Building and analyzing arguments for personal, academic, or professional purposes
• Collecting and organizing research sources
• Participating constructively in the community forum
• Reading and commenting on blog posts

4.2 Prohibited Use

• Hate speech, harassment, discrimination, or threats
• Deliberately spreading misinformation or fabricating sources
• Automated scraping, bot access, or API abuse
• Reverse engineering our AI systems or prompts
• Sharing or reselling account access
• Impersonating others or misrepresenting affiliation
• Content that promotes violence, self-harm, or illegal activities
• Bypassing rate limits or content moderation

All community participation is subject to our Community Guidelines. Violations may result in content removal or account suspension. Key principles:

• Argue ideas, not people
• Zero tolerance for hate speech — permanent ban, no exceptions
• Engage in good faith — no trolling, strawmanning, or bad-faith arguments
• Back your claims with evidence
• Welcome all skill levels

6.1 Your Content

• You retain all rights to arguments, notes, sources, and other content you create
• You grant us a limited license to process your content for Service delivery
• Community posts and blog comments are visible to other users

6.2 AI-Generated Content

• AI analysis and research findings are generated using Anthropic's models
• You may use AI-generated content freely, but verify accuracy before relying on it
• AI outputs do not constitute legal, academic, or professional advice

6.3 Our Intellectual Property

All Service features, scoring algorithms, UI components, and proprietary technology remain our property.

We collect and process data as outlined in our Privacy Policy. We do not sell your data. Your arguments and research are private to your account unless you share them in the community.

• We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service
• AI features depend on third-party model availability (Anthropic)
• We may modify, add, or remove features with reasonable notice
• We are not liable for service interruptions beyond our control

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

• We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you in the last 12 months
• We are not responsible for AI output accuracy or appropriateness
• We are not liable for decisions made based on arguments built using our Service

You agree to indemnify us from claims arising from your use of the Service, violation of these Terms, or content you create or publish.

10.1 By You

Cancel your subscription from Settings. Delete your account from Settings — all data is permanently removed.

10.2 By Us

We may suspend or terminate accounts for Terms violations, non-payment, fraud, or repeated community guideline violations.

10.3 Effect

Upon termination, access to Pro features ceases. We may delete account data after 90 days.

Before formal proceedings, parties agree to attempt resolution through good faith negotiation via brenfurtado@gmail.com. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States.

• These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and RebuttalBase
• If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect
• We may update these Terms with notice — continued use constitutes acceptance
• Failure to enforce a provision does not waive that right
